There is a measles outbreak in our area. Early, accelerated, and catch-up vaccination is recommended to protect our children from this highly contagious disease. Children aged 6-11 months should receive an early dose of MMR. Children aged 1-4 years should receive 2 doses of MMR at least 28 days apart. (If your child has only had 1 dose, they need a second dose at least 28 days after the first.) Please call our office ASAP to discuss whether measles vaccination is recommended for your child.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) currently recommends comprehensive genetic testing as part of the evaluation for many children with developmental delays or intellectual disabilities. When appropriate, the Children's Clinic of Wyomissing takes the initial step by administering the test, which is then analyzed by GeneDx.

As of October 1st, we are offering the RSV monoclonal antibody immunization (Beyfortus) to all infants from birth to 8 months of age. The immunization gives your baby the antibodies they lack while their immune system is maturing and has been shown to reduce both Emergency Department visits, and hospitalizations due to RSV, by over 80%. The immunization can be given at your child’s routine well visit and should provide protection for 5 months after given.
